Bangladesh overtook India In Per-Capita GDP 2020, According To IMF Reports: Reality Check

You definitely would have heard the story of Tortoise and the Rabbit in your childhood, poor fellow tortoise a slow-moving animal whereas Rabbit - faster than him. I am sure you would be knowing the ending as well! Rabbit's overconfidence and ego results in him losing the race and the slow-moving tortoise wins the race at the end! Something similar is happening with Rabbit(India) and Turtle(Bangladesh) A country which was supposed to outrun China, become a $5 Trillion Economy and the Superpower by 2020 Is now finding out that its neighbour Tortoise(Bangladesh) is now neck to neck with it.

REALITY OF THE NEWS

But has Bangladesh really out past us in per capita GDP? Answer to this is not as simple as you would have been reading in the newspapers, Answer to this is both Yes and a No! But there is still hope, I will let you know how India can cope up with this or not?

Let's come to the latest news in which IMF published "World Economic Outlook" data According to this data India's per capita GDP in 2020 came out to be $1876 whereas that of Bangladesh $1887 but World Outlook Data also tells us that India's per capita income will again out pass Bangladesh's per capita income in 2021 But then again in 2024 Bangladesh again will surpass us!

Till now it is not possible that Bangladesh can move ahead of India and even I am saying that, to understand we need to get into the math and find out that technically Bangladesh is not ahead of us cause the chart has been prepared on the basis of nominal terms as in inflation has not been considered and since 2014 inflation in Bangladesh is more compared to India. So if you adjust the inflation you will find out that still, an Indian citizen is richer than a Bangladeshi.

PROBLEMS FOR INDIA

But still, we cannot say that Bangladesh is not growing faster than India or take any neighbour like Taiwan or Vietnam because Bangladesh is actually growing really fast. 2 years ago it was predicted that Bangladesh's per capita income will surpass India by 2020 even without corona FYI and that is exactly what is happening. In 2016 our per capita income was 43% greater than that of Bangladesh but now it is almost standing neck to neck and this is because we got deviated from the actual way of progress. On the other hand, we started dreaming that India will become a superpower but did not do anything concrete. Cause the government just running after the power. Once power was taken over, "opposition free India" was the next goal that was set after that we were running after the Tukde Tukde Gang, Award Wapsi Gang, putting activist behind the bars and then Bollywood and Drugs.

But when we were busy fighting among ourselves Bangladesh very slowly continued its growth. Whereas we are busy fighting with our own people. If you look at the HDI then the average life expectancy of a Bangladeshi citizen is 3 years more than that of an Indian citizen. Whether it is Infant mortality or Child Malnutrition Bangladesh is doing better than us, Look at the female participation in the workforce as it is an indicator of a progressive economy. In India female participation is decreasing day by day but in Bangladesh, it is continuously increasing, Even in Literacy Rate Bangladesh is almost neck to neck to India.

CONCLUSION

The improvement has vanished since liberalization in Economy. Our focus has shifted to lynching, Tanishq ad, to people's personal choice of eating, who is on drugs, these pity things have become the ultimate goal of our lives. If we shift back our focus to Economy then in 2024 Bangladesh will not be able to surpass us in the per capita GDP and this is my guarantee or we can continue with Jamaat, Bollywood, Rhea, Congress, Mandir, Masjid, Boycott Ola, Swiggy, Zomato, Tanishq and soon we will find even Nepal also overtaking us.

It is good to see Bangladesh progressing but it feels bad seeing India losing in this race.
