During UPA Government Corruption was rampant. LPG rates, onions and petrol prices were soaring high, the public was exasperated with the regime. But then BJP made big promises in its 2014 campaign and many people instantly became fanboys of party's politicians back then 'Acche din' and 'Janata Maaf nahi karegi' were at the core of BJP's campaign slogans and brilliant video ads were made to lure the voters.
Promise no. 1- Petrol price
When petrol prices crossed Rs 70 mark in 2014, BJP protested in most of the country. Today, petrol and diesel prices are at an all-time high- 1 litre of petrol costs over Rs.90 in Mumbai and Jaipur. Global crude oil prices have been declining since the lockdown. Today, Crude oil is $50 per barrel in the international market vs $70 per barrel in 2018
Promise no. 2- Onion Prices
Onion prices have been another let down coming from the BJP Government. When onions were selling at 80 rupees/kg in 2014, the public voted the Congress out of power. But the BJP turned out to be another disappointment. Last year, onion prices increased by 250% between August and October The prices even reached a maximum of Rs. 200/kg in some places. But the public does not care much about the price hike anymore. Not only onions, but food inflation has also been on a constant rise too. Although Modi Govt was successful in controlling inflation till 2018 after that inflation has been constantly rising. The Consumer Price index rose to 7.6% highest in the last 6 years and the major reason for the rise in the Consumer Price Index is Food inflation.

Promise no. 3-Unemployment
Unemployment has been a perennial problem in India. The unemployment rate was 4.9% when Modi Govt. came to power, Narendra Modi promised 1 crore jobs each year in his election campaign. Today, India's unemployment is at 45 year high. India's unemployment rate dwindles between 7-9% these days. Besides republic debates and BJP IT cell, there aren't many employment opportunities in India these days.
Promise no. 4- Women Safety

Usually, we don't play politics over farmers and soldiers but when it happens, the risk to reward ratio is very high. Since Independence, farmers have always struggled for a decent earning. Today farmers are protesting for over weeks on Singhu border. They are the live witness to the farmer crisis. The government stopped releasing farmer suicide data after 2016. After three years, when the data was finally released, we got to know that the situation hasn't improved.
Promise no. 6- Education
Let's talk about the anti-national and tukde tukde students. The JNUs, Jamias, DUs of the country....basically all the big universities. A common man's earnings are assaulted by funds and taxes and the leftover goes into the education so BJP promised cheap education too. Since coming to power, Govt. has waged a war against education and increased education fee of many Govt colleges. Anti-national JNU's... FTII and SRFTI entrance exam fee was raised to Rs.10,000 from Rs. 1,500 IIMC's tuition fee was increased by 100% and IIT's MTech fees were raised by 900%.
CONCLUSION
Last year's CSO data says that healthcare inflation has been double the overall rate of inflation which means healthcare services have gotten costlier. Public never forgive Congress for the Inflation but the same Public does not care about inflation when this Govt is in Power. So this Govt is in a safe zone. These were the six major failures of the current regime.
Although BJP has done some good work in roadways and reducing LPG rate and electricity distribution. But taxpayers need to start questioning the things that were promised and not done yet. It is very important to ask questions in a democracy because a democracy without accountability is useless. Your new year resolution should be to ask more questions.
Thank You
