Ganesh festival is celebrated all over the country and Vighnaharta has been cherished at various places. Almost all the Ganesh temples of the country are decorated and people are spending their time daily in puja and aarti. While the memory of installing idols in different Ganesh pandals has its place, the famous Ganesh temples have their own importance to be displayed. Just like the darshan of Mumbai's Siddhi Vinayak temple is considered very auspicious these days. But do you know that there are many Ganesh temples not only in India but also in Indonesia and Ganesh Ji has been present there for 700 years at the mouth of a volcano in Indonesia?
Of the 141 volcanoes in Indonesia, 130 are still active and one of them is Mount Bromo. It is located in Bromo Tengger Semeru national park in East Java Province. It is being said about a statue of Ganapati on Mount Bromo, Indonesia's active volcano. Although it is a folk tale, but local people believe that this statue has been there for 700 years.

What is special about the Ganesh idol present here?
Bromo means Brahma in the Javanese language, but Ganesha holds a special place in this volcano. Local people believe that the idol which is at the mouth of the volcano protects the people here. Indonesia has a large Hindu population and there is no scarcity of temples here. Many Gods will be found here from Ganesh temple to Shiva temple.
Javanese people live in the province of Java. They believe that their ancestors installed this idol. The worship of Ganapati never stops here. Even if there is an explosion here. Actually it is a tradition, This tradition named 'Yadnaya Kasada' is celebrated on a special day in the year. It is a 15-day festival that has been going on since its inception.
Along with the worship in the idol of Ganesha above, goats are sacrificed and fruits, flowers etc. as offerings. It is believed that if this is not done, the outbreak of the volcano will consume the people here.
